LIFE ON MISSION STORIES

In response to the 40 days of Life on Mission, we focused on reaching out to our neighbors. Each day, we wrote a personal, hand-written card to a different neighbor saying that we were doing a study in our Christian church that involved reaching out to neighbors. We said that we thought that we could do this by praying each day for a specific neighbor and that we were making them the focus of our prayers that day. We sited that our prayers for them were to God to bless their health, give peace in their relationships, sufficiency in their finances, and grant wisdom in their decisions. We also included the “Steps to Peace With God” tract and expressed hope that in reading it, they would find it to be a blessing. We wrote that this tract was put out by the Billy Graham Association and not affiliated with any specific church. Next, we followed up by praying that day for the designated neighbors. Over fifty notes and tracts were mailed, with an estimation of reaching over one hundred people. On our frequent walks in the neighborhood, we have received many acknowledgments of appreciation for these notes and tracts. During this time, neighbors faced serious illnesses and some have passed. The “Steps to Peace With God” tract may have been one of their last spiritual readings before leaving this earth. Only eternity will reveal the impact of this evangelistic blitz to our neighbors that was prompted by the Holy Spirit through the 40 days of Life on Mission.
